Subject : Chinese New Year greetings from Winnie
Dear all,
Chinese New year is always a busy time for me: a lot of shopping,
visiting and EATING !!! The photo is already too kind to me: I am
much plumper than what meets the eyes !!!
Even though I am all alone, I try to celebrate the festival in style.
This year, my peach blossom branch is a bit skinny, but the
myriads of buds make up for its size. The bright red gladioli
are in full bloom; it's the narcissus this year that have brought
unexpected joy and fortune to compliment the festive season.
Flowers keep bursting; filling the sitting room and the dining
room with a very refreshingly sweet scent, and twice attracting
a wayward bee which did not seem confused but was completely
lost in the fragrance of the flowers. It's a very auspicious sign that
2 of the narcissus bulbs bear 10 shoots of flowers. Last year,
I had one bearing nine shoots and thought that might be the limit !
My narcissus shoots don't grow too tall because I have added
the "shorty powder" to stunt its growth.

Nice to hear from you again. We had spent 12 days in Paris during the Christmas time. This was a wonderful trip for our family because Clara was the tourist guide, Tim (Chung Hau Tim [ F5 1975 ], Ivy's husband) was the photographer, Ivy and Edmund were planning which nice restaurants we were going to dine......very leisure that I have ever been.

Dear Ching Sir... (reminds me of those good old days at CCSC),
Thank you so much for your Chinese New Year greetings, esp. pictures of Glory. She is so cute. I have always a big fan of dogs. However, it's really too cold to walk them in the winter in Canana. So I have decided that I have to be realistic. I am now the proud owner of four lovely cats.
I am very sorry I didn't reply earlier. I have been quite busy with birthday parties and new year celebrations.
Talking about Mr. K. K. Poon, he and his family paid me a visit just this afternoon. They will be going back to HK for two weeks later on this month. Yes, I consider myself very lucky to have friends like Mr. and Mrs. Poon. They are such lovely people.
I don't think I have seen you ever since I left CCSC, which must be somewhere around 1976. So that's exactly 30 years! My goodness, it seems like just a few years ago when I was sitting in the little staff room with colleagues like Winnie Wong, Marian Wu, Lee Yuk-ling, Ah Fok...
I moved to Toronto in 1988. Except for a brief period between 1991-93 when I moved back to HK, I have been living here with my two daughters. When I first came, my older daughter Heather was only 8 years old and my younger daughter Hilary was only a year and a few months old. Now, Heather just turned 26 and will be getting married this Sept. Hilary is in 3rd year university majoring in English.
What about you? Do you have any kids?
I still keep in touch with a few of my students. Every time I go back to HK, Lau Kam-chuen will organise dinners so that I could meet some of my former students. He also sent me emails every now and then to keep me informed of some of the happenings concerning my former colleagues. For instance, he sent me pictures of Miss Ng ( Mrs S Yuen ) in Perth when she was undergoing cancer treatment. It really saddened me to learn of her premature death. She was such a nice person.
Well, it's getting late. I'll write again some other time. Do keep in touch.
All the best in the Year of the Dog.
