YEAR OF THE DOG
Kung Hei Fat Choy. It's this time of the year again for end-of-year Family Reunion Dinners, Peach Blossoms and Narcissus, Red Packets and Lucky Money, etc. etc. I take this opportunity in wishing all of you great happiness and prosperity in the Year of the Dog.
My dog Glory with her New Year Greetings to you. She is a Chinese Shar-pei, 4 y.o.
I would like to extend my big thanks to all who sent me Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year greetings on email, ecard, paper card, etc. Thank you.
In Family Album Page 212 I had posted some photos of "New Year Flowers" from my backyard. Not only do they serve as my New Year Greetings, but I also wanted to share with everybody the joy of gardening. Within a couple of days, Lydia Shih [ F5 1989 ], wrote back her long and enthusiastic response. She also sends a photo of her very nice front garden at home in Albany, California. Thank you so much, Lydia.

Hi Ching Sir:
Happy New Year!
Thank you for posting the beautiful pictures of your garden! You have a
beautiful garden and you obviously have a green thumb too! Well, I'm
not quite 50 yet (more than 15 years away) but I do love gardening and
bird watching. I notice when I go on birdwalks at the UC Botanical
Garden that I'm usually the youngest person around. I do hope that more
people would start gardening at an earlier age because it is so
enjoyable and healthy - much better than watching TV and playing video
games!
 Lydia's front yard
I am relatively new at gardening - just about 5 years. During Spring,
Summer and early Fall, I usually spend all my weekends at the nurseries
looking for new things to plant. The front yard (see picture) is about
2 years old/young and I have planted lavander, african daisies, 15
varieties of poppies (in Spring), flaxes, geum, milkweed (for monarch
butterflies), salvias (for hummingbirds), roses, clematis, corn cockles,
nemesia, and whatever interesting plants I happen to stumble upon. I
have a few very young Ginkgo, Japanese and Taiwanese maple, I also have
a young Chinese wisteria which have yet to bloom. Recently I become
very interested in cacti and succulents as well and have gotten more
than 25 potted plants. My challenges are weeds (the neighborhood is
very weedy and windy) and wild life. While I welcome the more than 10
different kinds of birds and butterflies that come to visit my garden, I
also get raccoons, squirrels, possums and deer that feed on my flowers,
fruit trees and vegetables. Not to mention the usual garden pests
aphids, ants, cucumber beetles, moths, etc. I guess that's just the way
nature is. .....
Happy Gardening!

Hi,
I used to study at CCSC between 1984-1987. Unfortunately, I wasn't taught by yourself. Miss Ng was my English teacher while Mrs Lee taught me Maths. Left the school in 1987 and moved to London. Now I am in London and still single. Hehe!!! Guess all my fellow students are all married and have children. Nice to find a website for our school. Hope some of them still remember me. Please keep in touch and organise some sort of gathering while I will be in HK.
Please keep me inform for any further news and let Miss Ng know I am still alive.
Regards

Hi my dear friends,
I finally have my web page up. For friends that I
don't meet very often, I wish I can shorten our
distance by sharing my life and news via the internet.

It is definitely a great way to practice my Chinese writing. =)
Happy holidays!
