HONG KONG
Rebecca Tang and husband Wong Shu Fai, and Family on vacation to Blue Mountain, Australia (2003)
It really gives me much pleasure hearing from Tang Yuet Kiu Rebecca [ F7 1979 ]. She studied Medicine at University of Hong Kong upon graduation from Form 7 at CCSC. Having worked as a doctor for 20 years, she is currently an OBS & GYN Specialist in a government hospital in Hong Kong.
She was told that I live in Vancouver, so she would want to meet me as her family will stop by Vancouver in their vacation trip this summer. But I'm actually in San Francisco instead, not Vancouver. Hope I would be able to meet her some day in future when she visits San Francisco.
The following are some excerpts taken from several different emails Rebecca had exchanged with me.....

Dear Mr Ching
You are always on my mind. You are one of my greatest teachers who gave me inspirations and excellent guidance in the good old days. Biology had been my favourite subject (and I proudly got 2 A's in Biology, at the O level as well as at the A level exams). Did you teach me Chemistry as well??
In the Year 2000, just before 911, I happened to be in San Francisco. Sadly I was not aware that you were there, otherwise we could have met there. We have no plan to go to the States yet, worrying about terrorism and the very tight custom checkings!!
I have read nearly all the stuff in the website you mentioned. Actually I tried to email you probably a year ago. Obviously that did not go through.
I am now working as a specialist doctor in Obs & Gyn in one of the government run hospitals -- good hours, well-paid. My husband is an ENT surgeon in private practice. We have 2 sons now at 12 and 14, studying in an ESF-run secodary school (English School Foundtion).
My parents are still managing in terms of health. Dad had a spine surgery a few years ago for prolapsed disc. My parents are at their 70's now; Dad is 76 already !! He got rather slow heart rates recently and might have to go for cardiac pacing. Well, who can avoid illness? [ Many past students should know Rebecca's parents, who used to manage the school building and supervise and be in charge of the janitorial staff. They resided in the School Staff Quarters on the ground floor. I think students used to call him "Tang Bak" (Uncle Tang) --- Felix ]
The Tang sisters, Tang Lai King and Tang Yuet Kiu, with Miss Fok, Vice Principal
I attended the 35th Anniversary Dinner of CCSC a couple of weeks ago, meeting old friends and teachers. I could even see Mr Chu (Geography teacher) there. It was so warm and cozy. However, many of the teachers are so exhausted and tired because of the workload!! Miss Fok has to work till 7 or 8 PM in the evening every day and to attend a lot of workshops and meetings on weekends. Obviously that is not the lifestyle you are enjoying in the States. I heard that many of them are considering early retirement. It would be sad news to the students. I shalll keep in touch with them. Miss Winnie Wong is telling everybody that I am her family doctor! They are really lovely people.
My family will be going to Canada for two weeks from 10th July 2004, to Vancouver, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, and then to Toronto on the 22nd. I definitely will see Dr K K Poon (former Chinese teacher) there. Actually we met before in 2000 when we visited Toronto. I also visited his website and read his articles.
I have talked to Miss Su recently, and she told me that in the good old days you, Mr Poon, and herself used to make music together at CCSC. Haven't had the chance to hear and appreciate... [ Oh yeah... that's one of the best "private" activities done outside school hours that I enjoyed most. I also played together a lot with Miss Rose Chan on the piano. Miss Rose Chan is now in Vancouver, Canada --- Felix ]
I really feel sad that we cannot meet this time. We have no plans yet going to the States in the near future. Do you have any plans to come back??? Please do. Just long to see you...
It is already 2314 when I read and reply to your email, you must be just waking up now. Shall get some photos and send you later. Promise to send yours as well.
Your Student,
Sincerely
Tang Yuet Kiu Rebecca

Rebecca later wrote back again and said she was able to contact Lo Yin Ping Terry [ F5 1976 ] and her husband Li Kwok Hay Edward [ F6 1974 ] in Vancouver. Both Rebecca and Terry had been School Prefects together at CCSC, although in different classes/years. They will be meeting each other. How nice !!!
