Update # 62. December 24, 2003

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR

Sorry I first intended to finish this Update on Christmas Eve, but somehow because of some intermittent internet connection problems lately, and because I have been held up by some other small things, I couldn't get it published until New Year Day. Anyway, eventually it is out. Happy New Year to you all. ;-)

I take this opportunity to extend my Holiday Greetings to all CCSC alumni, teachers, and current students. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all !!!

By the way, the picture above is my Christmas Tree in my backyard. It's an 8-feet-tall Colorado Spruce which I acquired only recently from a nursery in Napa Valley. I have been looking for a tree growing in a container. I don't want a cut tree, as I think it is not ecologically sound to cut down a tree and use it only for a couple weeks, even though the tree may be grown for this purpose in a tree farm. I want my tree to stay alive and continue to grow in the many years to come. In the backyard, the tree is visible from the Family Room, the Kitchen, and also from the bedrooms upstairs.

Also, my computer had a lot of internet connection problem lately and I am frustrated to encounter loss of connection, thus it affects both my getting emails and updating the web site. My apologies. Also, my very sincere thanks are due to all of you who sent me Christmas Greetings on line and on paper. For the connection problem I had I apologize for not having returned the greetings individually. Here are a couple of pictures among others that I received. On the left is the family of Yeung Pud Kuen Max and Lee Yim Wan Judith, both of [ F7 1977 ], and their three sons. The other picture is Chong Yee Wai [ F5 1996 ] who just graduated from Princeton University, and is now doing Graduate School at Stanford University.

VANCOUVER

This photo depicts the happy Au Fung Yee Agnes [ F7 1976 ] and her new born grandson. O Yeah, Au Fung Yee is now Grandma, and still so young!!! Congratulations!!! I would like to thank Agnes' brother, Au Yuk Hang Peter [ F5 1978 ] for sending the photos to me. Peter also wrote, "Is this the first grand mom among CCSC alumni?". Although not 100% sure I think Peter is probably right, as I haven't heard from any CCSC alumni that they have grandkids. Congratulations to Agnes again for escalating her status one step further up, from mommy to grandma now. The new baby in the picture is so cute and so is the new Grandma Agnes.

Hello Mr. Ching,

Thanks for sending response so promptly. Finding this web site is like seeing old friends again. I came to Los Angeles nearly 14 years ago. I live about 10 miles further south from Disneyland in the city of Irvine, and am currently working as an insurance management consultant.

Other than having met Lau Kam Chuen and Vincent Yung (F5C/1974) several years ago, I have not found a single soul from CCSC in L.A. I really thought that I lived in outer space as far as CCSC network is concerned. Got your web site address from Vincent Yung, who lives in Honolulu, who in turn got it from Wong Ah Tak (F5/1973) in Vancouver.

I have been back to HK a few times in the past couple of years. I joined the 30th anniversary celebration dinner at the City Hall, and had dinner a few times with some old classmates and great teachers like Miss M. Ng (history), Mr. Wat, Ms Lee Yuk Ling (Art), Mrs. Sinn, and even Mrs. Yuen shortly before she passed away.

Remembering Mrs. Yuen reminds me of 2 other wonderful teachers who had also left me with great influence and love. Miss Maria Chan and Miss Jean Lai gave me self-confidence beyond measure. I am forever grateful to all our teachers at CCSC. I might not have the same to say about the school administration, but we certainly had the best from our teachers.

I come up to San Francisco a few times a year. It would be nice to meet up with some CCSC teachers and mates.

Cheers to your hard work in helping us keep in touch.

Best,
Albert Lau

Hi Felix,

How are you? Haven't heard from you for so long. Hope everything goes well on your side.

Haven't I updated you about my new job? After being laid off from Sybase on April 30, I started working for a Swiss bank in the mid of July. ......

To my surprise, my current manager's boss was also from CCSC. He came over to tell me that he saw my photo in your website. His name is Wilfred Ho, who graduated in 1979 (Form 7).

My original plan to go to Russia in May, 2003 has been cancelled (although we had paid everything) because of SARS. Then we planned to visit East Africa. However as I just got this new job, I could not have annual leave to travel to East Africa with Alan. He went to East Africa by himself.

Cheers,
Hilda

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CCSC, PLEASE READ

Just received from Mr. Wat, a message from CCSC to ALL CCSC Alumni (HK and Overseas), as follows:

Dear Felix,

At the tea party after the Speech Day ceremony at school today, I met two active students, Hui Tin Fook and Chan Chun Chung.

Hui Tin Fook suggested to call in at least two (OR MORE) old students from each graduation year of the past 34 years, to come to a meeting on January 9, 2004 at 7PM at CCSC.

Please tell all CCSC old students that there will be an Anniversary Dinner in June, 2004. Those living in Hong Kong should contact:
Mr. Yuen (Principal) at 25706665, or
Mr. Au (Vice-principal) at 25706665, or
Miss Fok (Vice-principal) at 25706665, or
Mr Chan Chuen Wing, CCSCOSA Chairman, at 61828941
for further details of the 35th Anniversary Dinner.

Please also emphasize that the old students meeting on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 7 PM, at CCSC, include the following Agenda (if time permits):
  • meet other old students,
  • discuss about the Anniversary Dinner
  • set up a better network to reunite their own classmates

so that there will be a successful anniversary dinner if they give full support to OSA.

Please also tell them that they will meet a lot of friends and teachers at the dinner.

Wat
