THE RAM

KUNG HEI FAT CHOY from San Francisco. Wish everyone of our Global CCSC Community be showered with love, good luck, excellent health, opulence and happiness throughout the Year of the Ram.

IT'S A GIRL !!!

Little Vicky and brother Paul

First things first. These good tidings were sent to me as early as December (or November?) but sorry I was too busy to give the news the publicity it deserves.

Let us congratulate Fung Pik Yeuk Rebecca [ F7 1984 ] and her family for the welcome addition of new member, a baby girl Victoria. Rebecca and family reside in San Francisco Bay Area. She wrote:
Praise the Lord!

We were blessed with a baby girl on November 21, 2002: Victoria Bonnie Wat, weighing 5 lb 13 oz. We've had some tough moments (just like what we say "dropping a basket of live crabs" in Chinese), such as baby didn't sleep well, big brother was sick, power outages in the area we live, etc. But God's grace has always been sufficient.

Before the baby cries again, guess we'd better go now.

Wishing all of you a healthy and blessed new year!

SNOW FLAKES & SPRING FLOWERS

This picture of Miss Winnie Wong in the snow was taken on Christmas Day, 2002 outside her brother's home in Nashua, New Hampshire. She spent 11 days there for a family reunuion. She said, "Fortunately, the fall of snow was not continuous and only a little inconvenience was caused. I must confess, I HATE SNOW!!!!!"

Back in Hong Kong this is Miss Wong's first New Year after retirement, and obviously she is enjoying it immensely. "I really feel wonderful that the work pressure is lifted," she said. This year she can afford even more time preparing the flowers for the New Year, and send us pictures of them as in last year. "I have to wait for the flowers to bloom or the pictures don't have much to show. I have got three types of flowers for the New Year. I have learnt a lesson this year. The peach blossom branch is not too good because the flowers are small. Fortunately, I have the gladioli which look vibrant and cheerful, and the narcissus which bloom in profusion, filling the whole flat with a pure scent and refreshing fragrance. I really take great pride in producing my own narcissus."

Miss Wong sends her best wishes to everyone for the Year of the Ram.

Thank you so much, Winnie. The Chinese Peach Blossom is always my favorite flower too. But for quite some time I could not find it in San Francisco area (didn't know where to look, maybe). Then lately I saw two trees of Flowering Plum in a nursery (Prunus x bleiriana). The flowers are very close to the peach blossom (but with a lighter shade of pink). They are so beautiful that I snatched them immediately, and put them in the front yard for the time being. Later I will move them to backyard. At this time the trees are tall (almost 8-10 feet), but small. Hope they will grow into big trees. (And, only yesterday I found the real Chinese Peach Blossom in San Jose, about 6 ft tall but with dark pink flowers. I am happy.) ---FELIX

Many thanks are due to Mr K K Lai of the Chemistry Lab for sending me a lot of photos he took of the school events, including this year's School Picnic and Speech Day. Recently he has sent picture of a BBQ Party at his home. You can see faces of some of the teachers there and Mr Lai's new home.

BAY AREA, UNITED KINGDOM, HONG KONG

We had a Bay Area dinner on December 6, 2002 in Palo Alto. Somehow this time arrangement was made in a little haste, so some could not attend due to short notice. Present were: Poon Yau Shun Andy [ F7 1976 ] and wife Chan Yin Man Anna [ F5 1974 ], Lai Tan Hoi Clement [ F5 1991 ], Tang Po Wan Ariel [ F5 1991 ], Chan Yau Kit Tony [ F5 1990 ] and friend Tanya, Lau Mei Ying Rainbow [ F5 1991 ] and husband Doug Kwan, and Fung Yu Shan.

We were so pleased to meet Fung Yu Shan for the first time in the Bay Area. He left CCSC after finishing F3, studied in Singapore, then had university in Canada. Currently he is reading a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University Graduate School.

Lau Mei Ying Rainbow has gained entry to the California Bar and can now practice as a lawyer. Chan Yau Kit Tony had spent months in China as a volunteer for the Catholic Church and the people there.

Ng Man Ho Eric [ F5 1991 ] who graduated from UC Berkeley in Computer Science and then had been working in the Bay Area at managerial level, has decided to go back to Graduate School to earn an MBA degree. He got married a year ago in Vancouver.

Cheng Sau Ting Aileer [ F5 1994 ] now doing fine as a postgraduate student in Cambridge University, UK, writes:

Li Hiu Fai Hilda [ F5 1991 ], of Hong Kong, is planning her trip again, this time to South America, mainly for 3 countries, Chile, Peru, Argentina. Probably she will pass by US first for transit to Satinago of Chile in May 2003. We hope to meet her around here. We hope she will send us some photos of her trip, as she had done in the past.

Mail from Tin Shun Kam Raymond [ F4 1989 ], who went back to HK after finishing university in San Francisco:

Dear all,

Whassup? How're you?

Right now, I just start my 2nd teaching practice at Diocesean Boy's School (DBS). It'll last for eight week. I hope that I can survive after finishing my teaching practice! Did everyone enjoy the Chinese New Year? I wish you all good!

Yours,
Raymond

I would like to thank all of you who sent me Christmas and Chinese New Year greetings, electronic and on paper. Happy New Year to you all.

[ Appended March 6, 2003 ]
It is exciting to hear from Kwok Ching Han Rosanna [ F5 1973 ] who is now living in Concord, California with her husband Tony Lau, and two sons, Andrew and Jonathan. She writes:

Rosanna Kwok (Lau) and family

Hi Felix:

It was nice hearing from you, too. No, I don't think we have ever met before. I guess I was one of those old-timers who was gone before you joined The CCSC Family..

I graduated from F.5 in 1973, went to St. Paul's Convent School for secretarial training and finally got my B.Sc. degree at CSU, Fresno. (Yep, Fresno - middle of nowhere). I am now settled in the city of Concord. You are right, Concord is not far away from SF... maybe we'll meet each other at the next reunion.

I am really impressed with your efforts in putting together this alumni website. Hopefully it will attract more teachers & students (past and present) to join. I still remember all the "good and bad" times at CCSC and will always treasure this memory. Attached is my family picture and please feel free to put it on the Overseas page

Keep in touch and hope to see you online soon.

Regards
Rosanna
