Update # 48. June 23, 2002

UPDATES FROM MS WINNIE WONG

We appreciate the many updates Miss Winnie Wong has been affording us all the time.

She sent us a photo of Lau Chun Yip Lawrence who visited Old Alma Mater from Canada a few months ago. Lawrence was very glad to be home again although, 28 years after his graduation, "Only a few people can recongize me now.....," he said.

Miss Wong writes, "If I haven't mentioned before, CCSC now has an Orchestra !!!!! Quite a BAND!!!!" How nice. Anyone got a picture, please send one to me for Overseas update. Or, anyone has a CD or movie of the Orchestra playing?....

[ ADDENDUM ]

Thanks to Mr KK Lai of the Lab for responding. Here is a photo of the Band taken earlier by Miss W Wong. More pictures can be found in Family Album Page 105

And, she also sent me some real tantalizing updates, not on CCSC news but on FOOD ! (A few teachers, including myself, always talked about food when I was still at CCSC.)....... "This year, the fruit Lai-Chee has a bumper crop and there are plenty of the "Nor-mick-chees" variety on sale at throw-away prices. We have a great time enjoying them." I wish I could fly back to HK immediately to get a taste of these goodies.

Thanks again for all your updates, Winnie.

HONG KONG

Very nice indeed to hear from Kwan Po Wan Bordford [ F7 1984 ], whose picture was also sent to us by Miss Winnie Wong. Bordford is now in Hong Kong and doing very well.

Dear Ching Sir,

Thank you on posting my picture with Ms. Wong. It was taken in Nov. 2001. I wish to express my appreciation to you on maintaining this invaluable website. It links up our past, present and future (look at the family photos of our seniors).

I must tell you that the biology you taught enabled me to continuously understand the development of science. Although some say that secondary school's knowledge is not applicable to real life, I do not agree.

By the way, I graduated from F7 in 1984. You may know Johnny Chan Wai Man or Lai Man Ho better. After leaving the school, I studied Industrial Engineering in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and then stayed in UK a year for a degree of MBA. I am now working as the Head of IT in a subsidary of Cathay Pacific Airways.

I will enrich your website by more classmates' photos.

Keep in touch
Bordford

I wish to thank Chung Yim Har [ F7 1977 ] for pointing out to me inaccurate information about classmate Chan Chor Wan in Update #24. Chan Chor Wan is doing fine in Hong Kong. My apologies to Chan Chor Wan and others for the mistake.

It's a great suprise that I can see so many CCSC 'ers through the web site. Actually for so many years, I missed my dear friends Wu Sau Chun and Chung Po Chu. We, the Dophines, lost contact with them since they had migrated to Canada.

Recently, I got news about Wong Yim Ping. She's in Boston.

Hoping that some days later, all our Dophines, will meet again.

It's great to hear from Lee Yee Man Helen of [ F6 1983 ] who found this web site and wrote in the Guest Book. Later I asked Helen for an update so she wrote as follows. Thanks.

Hi Ching Sir,

........

I left CCSC in 1983 (Form 6, Biology group) for Australia. I then spent 8 golden years there - high school then Medical school. Having finished my internship in 1990, I returned to HK in 1991 for a short while. My real settlement in HK was in 1992. I am now an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. My clinic is in Argyle Centre, Kowloon. Time has been tough but my business is establishing. Taking time off for any purpose is unfortunately impossible at present.

I was in Boston and then SF in 1997 after my Membership exam. I had a real good time in the States for 2 months - sight-seeing, studying, meeting up with friends and of course shopping......

Although we still have a lot of CCSC friends in HK, we seldom get together. I suppose we should find ourselves more excuses to meet more often.

Hope to see you again in HK. Take care.

Sincerely,
Helen Lee

Tin Shun Kam Raymond [ F4 1989 ] plans to take a trip to US from late July to early August. He used to go to College in San Francisco area and returned to HK to work a year ago.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

Many thanks to Cheng Sau Ting Aileer [ F5 1994 ] for updates:

Dear Ching Sir,

Can't remember when was the last time I've emailed you. Anyway the Local Education Authority have my passport right now (to see if they give me grant to study in Cambridge), so "in jail" in England with football.

If that doesn't work out, I'll be in Mongolia this Sept. Woo... get you excited or worried? Well, my friend in Mongolia saw this school need a teacher, then she passes my details to them, after 2 emails, I've got the offer.

Below is a piece of news about poverty. I just love being alive with clean water and electricity to watch TV and cold drink from the fridge, and not much more I'm asking for. (even though I'm a greedy person who wants to travel the globe)....... ... ... ...

Talk more soon.

Love,
Aileer
