News of CCSC alumni in New York area
Terrorist Attack on America
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Our heart goes out to all individuals and families
whose lives are disrupted by the 911 incident.

Those of us who are concerned and worried about the safety of fellow alumni living at or near New York, may find relief in learning that all those we have contacted so far are safe and doing fine. This update covers some up-to-date information they have sent back to us in response to my enquiry. Fu Ching Mui Phoebe [ F4 1989 ] and Jacky Fan [ F5 1992 ] provided a brief account of what happened to them on that day.

If you want to leave a little message here to tell CCSC people and your friends that you're safe, please email it to me.

Just got word from Lam Ting Wa Terence [ F2 1988 ] and Tong Ka Pui Joan [ F5 1990 ] who reside in New Jersey and New York respectively. They want us to know that they and their families are safe in the 9/11/01 terrorist attack on World Trade Center in New York.

Eric Ng [ F5 1991 ] wrote and said he had email contact with Terence and has learnt that besides Terence, Sherman Pang is also doing fine over there too.

Ching Sir,

I just want to let you know that I am okay! I'm really thankful that I happened to attend a conference in Brooklyn yesterday morning. If it's a normal working day, it'll be exactly the time (8:45am) when I pass by WTC to walk over to WFC from subway. I would have been trapped in the WTC concourse.... Other colleagues in WFC should have left okay.. since my friends working in AT&T bldg left fine... However, it's horrible for my friend to see people jumping out from the windows before the collapses.

I got evacuated from the conference site at about 9am and I walked over to the riverside near Brooklyn Bridge, overlooking the second crash and the collapses. It's indeed devastating!!! The explosions were loud and the dust was blowing to us even though we're standing on the other side of the river... I really can't imagine how my work life is going to change with those bldgs tearing down.... Most likely, I'll be working temporarily at our site in NJ....

From Jacky Fan [ F5 1992 ], at Carnegie Mellon University at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:

Date: 9/14/01 10:00:38 AM Pacific Daylight Time
From: Jacky Fan
To: Felix Ching

Ching Sir:

..... I'm okay here in Pittsburgh.

It was just a scary and unbelievable scene to watch on TV on Tuesday. Anyhow, thank God the plane that crashed near Pittsburgh did so 15 minutes late. If it had happened 15 minutes earlier, Pittsburgh would be another place just like WTC in NY. There's no gurantee it will hit my school or not.

Just let everyone know that i'm doing alright.

Thanks,
Jacky

HI, Mr. Ching:

.... I'm glad to hear Joan Tong and the other CCSC alumni are ok!!

I was very shocked and very sad when I saw the Twin Towers collapsed on TV. I used to work and live very closed to WTC. I'm in Hong Kong now but I still have a strong feeling for NYC.

Take care!!
