Update # 34. May 10, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

Tse Tin Sing with daughters Katherine and Patricia.
Patricia was one-DAY-old when photo was taken.

How nice to hear from a past student again who had graduated more than 20 years ago. Tse Tin Sing [ F7 1979 ] wrote to me and sent a recent picture of himself and his two beautiful girls. Bigger version of the picture in Family Album Page 72

    Ching Sir,

I probably have forgotten some of the stuff you taught me like the Animal Kingdom (biology). However, I have not forgotten things like the Gas Law, Valency, Atomic Mass, and, definitely, I remember the best part of my life -- high school life at CCSC and yourself (one of the best teachers of our time).

I am Tse Tin Sing (Shing), F5 1977 and F7 1979. You taught us Chemistry and Biology in 1973-74 (Form 2E).

In 1989, I relocated to San Francisco and married my wife Mabel. Ever since, I am living in San Francisco. Currently, I am working at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara. I have two girls, Katherine ( 6-1/2 ) and Patricia (1 month).

Please include me in the Alumni List.

    Regards!
    Tin Sing Tse
    (F7 1979)
When I saw his picture, I remember Tse Tin Sing as the responsible Monitor who acted as the daily courier of class assignments to the teachers. He had also acted as a School Prefect at the school entrance to ensure proper school uniform was worn by all. Difficult task, but....

He also mentioned his classmate Cheung Hung Kee Patrick and brother Cheung Hung Yip, both from CCSC, are practicing dentists in the San Francisco Bay Area. "Cheung Hung Kee attended CCSC form 2E in 1973-74 with me and immigrated to San Francisco in the summer of 1974. His brother Hung Yip, I belive, attended Form 1B in 1973-74."

    SINGAPORE

It is also nice to hear from Eric Mok [ F4 1981 ], who went to study in Canada and is now working in an advertising agency in Singapore.

"Please do let me know if any one who knows me happened to visit Singapore, or is even in Singapore now. Surely it will be good if we can talk to some old friends."

Actually we now have contacts with two CCSC Singaporeans. The other one is Ho Wing Ki of [ F5 1975 ].

    MARYLAND

Edward Hung [ F7 1995 ] who is working on his Ph.D. at University of Maryland, will be back to Hong Kong on May 30 for a six week vacation.

    NEW CCSCOSA WEB SITE

It is exciting to see a completely new face given to the web site of Cheung Chuk Shan College Old Students Association (CCSCOSA). The brand new web site was launched in 2001. Apart from a nicely designed animated opening screen, the new web site brings news and information of the OSA functions and the School. The picture on the left captures the Photo Gallery page which carries a number of recent photos of special OSA functions.

Thanks to Mr Joseph Yuen, the Vice Principal, for bringing to our attention the new web site. Please also note the new URL: http://www.ccscosa.org.hk/. Go there, take a look, and use it.

FURTHER UPDATES FROM AILEER CHENG [F5 94]
    VOLUNTEER CHEMISTRY TEACHER IN KENYA

........... You never know how much patience is needed until you know (even they give you advance warning about it). Well I'm glad at least my F1 remember how to find Area. It is a good start. I used to think they've forgotten everything. Then I realize indeed I really can't blame them for hating Science as time goes by. I just put a small piece of Na into water. It is not an expensive experiment. I excited all the F2. Then my F3 boys come and request me to do the same for them, b/c they never have something so fun in their life.

Also I developed a new rule, person with the chalk write. Yeah the F3 complain they don't understand my English, so now nobody speak, we just write everything, even good morning. it is ridiculously fun. It work a bit for the time being.

At least students still like me when we are not in class. Wednesday was interschool sportsday. Glad I used to run around in CCSC even I'm never top athletes. They were so excited when I led them to shout loud. Also I took photos, the first time being a photographer, I just run around, and a 'white' teacher runnin around quickly caused so much laugh.

Learned flute for a year, sang in CCSC Choir for a few months, I still scare of black beams, and I keep killing people in karaoke. Now I am actually telling my boys how to sing like a proper choir for music festival next week.

There is so much to do.

BTW I need help (yeah again :>)

I'm going to teach AIDS. Well can all those biologist, medics, or biochemist tell me scientifically about AIDS, what it does in the body, why a +ve mother, the baby will then have a 50:50 chance to be +ve etc as u know I also lose memory. so I request it to be in hard copy.

BTW for those who is going to forward junk mail to me, if u think it is so nice, pls print it off then send it by post. I do like gossips, but too much junk mail in mail box may mean I can never load my inbox in my nearest town.

    PS:
In Tom Sawyer they say it is not work as long as you like it. It is so true. I get 6 boys to carry my cupboard for me from school store to my place about 300M. I concerned about them even they are stone. It ended up more than 20 of them come round to help, and they were just singing and marching along. They had so much fun.

Another thing I never know I can play is handball. But I am requested again to teach and train them tomorrow for a match coming next week.

    PPS:
So last weekend I visited my friend near Kakamega.

It is so good to have a proper house with a proper kitchen and toilet. I should have specified this when I chose my placement instead of assuming I'll have a house in a rural area. Nevermind, they like homemade Chinese food. I'm going to visit more often.

    Thanks a lot.

    Love,
    Aileer
