Teachers' Summer Trips to U.S.A.

It is great to meet Mrs Jacqueline Wong, Biology teacher, again in U.S.A. this summer. I brought Mr and Mrs Wong to a winery in Napa Valley that offers free guided tours -- the visitors are brought down to the field to understand how different varieties of grapes are selected and grafted together so as to combine the desirable qualities in them, and the processes that the grapes are grown, juiced and fermented into red and white wines. Very educational. I bet Mrs Wong will certainly elaborate on Vegetative Propagation and Fermentation in her upcoming Biology classes. :-) Her husband and I also tried their wine tasting session.

Jacqueline must have heard tentalizing stories about the fun in our fishing. When she expressed her desire in giving it a try, we immediately headed for the closest fishing pier at Berkeley, on leaving Napa Valley. On our way, we also dropped by Pinole, to the house of Mr Lee Lip Ming, former Chinese teacher. Mr Lee happened to be out (we had no prior appointment), but we were able to talk to the very friendly and hospitable Mrs Lee. By the way, Mr Lee is doing extremely well and has become Grandpa a few months ago !

I learnt that Mrs E Ko, Mathematics teacher, and her family were also in the Bay Area this summer. But what a pity we could not get in touch.

Prior to this, I had the opportunity of talking to Mrs Sinn, former Chinese teacher at CCSC, on the phone. She was in the Bay Area in July, will go back to Chicago for a while and will be in Bay Area again before she returns to Hong Kong. A few years ago she left her Chicago home and returned to HK to teach for some time (not at CCSC).

Alumni News

I was glad that Tin Shun Kam Raymond [ F4 1989 ] found my web site and left a message in the Guest Book. He had come to USA in 1989 after finishing Form 4 at CCSC. Raymond is currently doing History and Political Science at San Francisco State University. He expressed interest in taking part in Bay Area alumni's activities

My warmest WELCOME to Wong Chi Pan [ F.7A 1985 ] who only arrived at Florida a week ago. Already a chartered engineer and an officer working for the Hong Kong government, he is sent by the government to read a Higher Degree in Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering at University of Florida Graduate School.

". . . I was the classmate of Wallace Ching and Lee Sing Fun whom you might be familiar with. I have two brothers who are CCSC graduates too: Wong Chi Fai Derek [ F.7A 1986 ] and Wong Chi Wai [ F.7B 1989 ]. I know that Fai visited you in the Bay Area a couple years ago. . . . . . Glad to see the web page of CCSC overseas link."

[ADDENDUM 8/20/99] Very glad to hear again from Pang Yiu Fai Vincent [ F5 1990 ] in New York, after he has returned from Hong Kong. He completed his Graduate School in Architecture at Columbia University this summer.

"How are you doing lately? I've been working for 2 months. Too bad that I didn't get a chance to meet you last time when you were at Philly. I was actually in Hong Kong during that time after my graduation. The economy in HK is still pretty bad and not easy to find a good job. My plan is to stay here another year or two before going back!!

"Would you put my new email address into CCSC webpage, thanks!! I'm gonna move to a new apartment next month. If you don't mind, you are welcome to visit anytime and sleep in the living room. Take care!!"
