Cheung Chuk Shan College alumni overseas link UPDATES

Update # 119. January 20, 2012

I was working on Update 119 when new materials for Update 120 came in.
I turned to work on and finished Update 120 first, thus the publishing date of Update #119
is one day later than Update #120.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

This is the "annual photo update" that we send out to relatives and friends this year for Season's Greetings. The photo was taken in September 2011 at our favorite sushi place in Alameda, California.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year. 祝各位: 吉祥如意、生龍活虎、四季平安•

My CCSC-AOL web site (Alumni Overseas Link) is now in its 14th year. Thanks to your constant support, the web site enjoys quite frequent visitation -- we always have tens (even though not "tons") of visitors every day. We carry a Totalizer Counter that keeps two different readings: The number of visitors has now exceeded 110,000 and the total number of pages read is more than 550,000. I hope they are all CCSCers. :-)

CCSC-AOL is a simple personal website that I run voluntarily with no official connection to CCSC. I appreciate Mr Yuen's help in providing hosting-server, but ownership of the website and copyright of its contents belong exclusively to me.

Basically it began as a little personal link among some CCSC students and a teacher (that is, me) who had recently gone overseas (San Francisco) in the 1990s. It served as a link among these newcomers-to-foreign-land so they could "cling" together for mutual support. It also provided updates from the Mother School, peers and former teachers' news, and even "gossips" (good kind). As more and more alumni joined in, I want my website to be a venue for my own thoughts, photos, updates. More importantly, I also want to gather the inputs from individual past students on similar areas. I want the individuals to see my web site as a venue for expressing their own feelings towards CCSC, memories related to their Mother School (we have seen a lot of these over the years). I want this to be a venue for them to send in their current information and whereabouts, to be saved here for pick up by other alumni. This is the kind of atmosphere I tried to create in my web site -- a feeling of homeliness and cosiness among CCSC individuals who care to drop in and share.

I enjoy working on the web site. It is always exciting to create new pages, but I also enjoy doing just housekeeping work on existing pages. It never fails to make me smile when I see that my newly published Update and Album pages have been read (indicated by the Counter), and it makes me even happier when students send in their newest tidings and recent photographs.

I have to apologize for getting slower and slower, though. I apologize for not being able to work on and post all the things that were sent to me. After all, I realize I am turning older myself with each year. I am going to reduce the time I spend in front of the screen. Very soon I will stop making new pages for the web site. But I will try my best to keep the existing pages up and make them accessible as before. Some people might want to read the old stuff written 14 years ago. I, for one, enjoy doing that, and I do frequently. :-)

I still use my computer for emails and my own work at home. I still use the voice phone, US-Mail, etc... I still gladly continue my constant connection to CCSC and all the people. So please drop me an email every now and then.

Good Luck to all of you.

--Felix
