30-Year Reunion and Homecoming
[ Thanks to Mr. S.S. Wat for providing the news source materials. ]
 Yes !!! 30 Years !!!
The Class of F5 1980 was celebrating the 30th anniversary of their graduating from CCSC. What a great idea it was to call up all old classmates for a Homecoming to the School together on the same day, to re-visit the school building and do the things you liked doing 30 years ago, to update old buddies and teachers/principals on your whereabouts, and finally to sit down together for a Reunion Dinner. Wilson Chan and Johnny Shih. first thought out the plan and the actual activity finally took place on May 1, 2010.
At around 3:30 PM the classmates and some with family members returned to the School and met with former teachers and School Principal Mr. Yuen. After quite a lot of catching up with fellow classmates, the returning alumni gathered in the Student Activity Room (one of the rooms that were created from the original parking spaces.) Mr. Yuen began with a warm welcome and an introductory talk, and this was followed by an illuminating speech given by Mr. Raymond Cheung, a Manager of the CCSC School Board.
Then the rest of the time was for each of the past students to come up one by one to give an update of himself/herself over the last 30 years after graduation. It was amazing that even though they all came from the same and pretty much homogeneous class, the classmates have entered into a wide spectrum of different professions and careers. For instance, Keung Fung Ying works at MTR; Tom Lee at HKTVB; Henry Luke is a specialist doctor in ophthalmology; Ching Sau Ying Fanny is a finance manager working in China; Karen Ho is a housewife; Anthea Pang is a District Court Judge; Maryann Wong is a Director of Sales and Marketing in Fashion and Home; William Fung is in Medical Research; Wilson Chan is an engineer working on the western line of MTR extending from Sheung Wan to Pokfulam and Kennedy Town.

The congregation then toured the school premises, accompanied by Mr. Yuen, Mr. Wat, and Mr. T.S. Fung. The students of 30 years ago suddenly found themselves once again in those familiar places where they were brought up as a teenager. They also witnessed new things too, such as the Eco-Pond at the Backyard Garden. The Canteen and Covered Playground was next, followed by Classrooms and School Hall, Library, Computer Room (which used to the 5E classroom), the Laboratories, and then the 6th Floor Playground. A lot of photos were taken there. Finally on the 7th floor the group looked into the Multimedia Room (which was a Language Lab in the 1970s).
Turning back into the lower block where the D.S. Room, Geography Room, Handicraft Room were located, Mr. Yuen presented a PowerPoint show briefing the old-timer alumni on how the school has been changing with time, from school building modifications and equipment installations to school policies and learning priorities. To all the alumni, the changes made and the results coming therefrom, are definitely impressive.
While maintaining the enviable academic excellence, current students of CCSC have been very successful in their many varied extra curricular activities and external competitions, such as public speaking, school band, Youth Red Cross, social services, school choir, school-organized visits to Mainland China. For a number of years in a row, CCSC students have been running a stall at the Chinese New Year Fair at Victoria Park, selling innovative New Year items that always attract a big crowd. CCSC even holds Archery Class in the Covered Playground on holidays.
For a souvenir, Wilson Chan presented to the School an electronic photo display frame with photos of students of the 80's stored in it. .
The Reunion Dinner was at North Point near the School. Some former teachers joined the party. We were so glad to meet again Mr. Fan Ping Wah (Math & Chem) and his wife, Cynthea (English), who had returned to Hong Kong a couple years ago from Australia. Other teachers, Ms Winnie Wong, Ms Fok, Ms Helen Lee, Mrs D Chan, Mr. Wat, Mr T.S.Fung arrived at the restaurant soon after.
In the midst of the candid talks during the dinner, Mr Leung, former Principal, spoke to the gathering introducing the history of School Song which was written by a CCSC graduate. As the Song was new to many members of this Class, Ms Winnie Wong was requested to sing the School Song before the students and teachers. The dinner ended at around 10:30 PM after a lengthy period of snapshot taking.
