Dear Ching Sir,

I could still remember the chemistry classes you had with us in F.5, be it in the lab or in the classroom; it's fun. Thank you.

As for me, I have fully made use of the basic science education I received in CCSC to continue my pursuit in various directions. Even though my first degree is a B.A., I still took calculus and biology courses and got good grades. Up to now, I still continue to learn through reading at my leisure time and attending open lectures from distinquished professors to deepen and broaden my knowledge in Science. As an aside, I just love learning and teaching and I considered myself privileged to receive my tertiary education in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. For example, I could study Greek, archaeology plus marine geogrraphy from two universities concurrently, i.e. University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg. I simply transferred credits from one to another to fulfill the degree programme requirement. I finished my pre-Master degree in Education before I left for Hong Kong to land on my first teaching job in Tai Po Carmel Pak U Secondary School in 1982 in order to prepare myself for further education to be trained as a full professional and academic.

Having taught English for 25 years, I felt that I wanted more time of my own to pursue other interests, e.g. landscape gardening, photography, architectural studies etc. I just have to regulate myself carefully in order to work through a schedule of my own and have a lot more fun than being driven by a full time job. I still consider teaching a way of spending time. But on a part-time basis, maybe 3 hours per week for seven weeks on non-credit bearing courses I design on my own in a wider teaching and learning context, such as activities in public libraries or in tertiary institutions. My passion for learning never stops and I am amazed at how much more I want to learn and share with friends on the net at times.

Here attached is a group photo taken on September 5th, 2009 with CCSC teachers and some office staff at a restaruant. I was among them and if you look for the youngest face among them, that's me. ; )

So much for now. Thanks again for everything.

Yours truly,

Kitty Kwan

Here attached is a photo taken with Judith Yeung Lee Yim Wan when she came back to HK for a visit in Dec. 2009. Do you recognize the faces?

You might have taught some of us in CCSC. Leung Tsang Po Wan, Silina Kwok Shuk Fun, Hui Kong Wei in F. 5 B, Belinda Kwok Kit Yee in F.5C and I was in F. 5A.

Guess we are looking as youthful as before, don't you think?

It's a happy getting together for us all.

Please feel free to post up this photo for sharing.

Cheers,
Kitty

Thanks so much, Kitty. Certainly you people are always youthful in my eyes. I taught both 5A and 5B classes so basically I should know everyone in the Science stream over a span of 18 years. But of course time and age are the two factors that always creep in, and quietly erode away fine details in old memories. I was amazed (and thankful) that I can still recognize the people in your photo. I do remember Kwok Kit Yee, although she was from the Arts stream. I have stronger memories on your class because it was one the first classes I taught when I first joined CCSC in September 1973. That was three and a half decades ago !!! -- Felix
