Early X'mas Greetings

Sometimes it is very easy to forget about X’mas here. The first year I was in BJ, I gave my teachers advance warning and skived lessons, and tried to have some form of celebration here. The second year, I had a proper X’mas in HK. Last year, I was buried with work. This year, it seems like I can try to have some small parties here.

Now Second last year in my 5-year long degree programme (time really flies quickly), I feel this term more relaxing for some reason. I worked very hard for some real learning, but didn’t do well at all in the mid-term exams. Fortunately, most people in our class did so badly that our teachers simply didn’t want to talk about it. Therefore no one knows how we did.

I like the optional courses. It was lucky that the teachers were good. I like the courses because they are interesting: I chose Traditional Chinese Culture, and Science Technology and Society, and I had the opportunities to criticize problems in China, Beijing, and in our College. Our lecturers know that those are not homework downloaded from the internet as Chinese students would only write things that glorify China irrationally.

I went to talk with Dr Xu Xing, a dinosaur man. He is googleable.

Shall write and update again soon, I hope. Keep warm and keep in touch.

Merry X’mas and Happy New Year!

Aileer took this and other pictures just one day before the heavy snow storm hit BJ near the 2010 New Year. [ Photo received on January 4, 2010. --Thank you, Aileer. ]
