Update # 101. December 5, 2008

Popular as he always is with his students, Mr. S. S. Wat (former Mathematics Teacher who retired 2 years ago) still keeps in touch constantly with his former students. This entire Update #101 brings us several interesting episodes of Mr. Wat's recent contacts with some of them. Thank you so much, Mr. Wat, for your invaluable inputs, especially the detailed accounts of reunion sessions and photographs.

(1) Members of F.1D (1983-84) Miss M. Ng was then form-teacher, and Mr Wat taught most of this class.

The photo was taken in a little party for classmate Lam Yan (林茵), who had suffered from an illness that resulted in her inability to walk any more. She became wheelchair bound for life, but with a strong character and will power, Yan has overcome the handicap by working at home. Having obtained a degree in Translation in the university after CCSC, she does translation jobs and also acts as a private tutor to students.

All her classmates have been so nice; they not only give her moral support at all times, but also visit her often and dine with her several times in a year. Recently they invited Miss Ng and Mr Wat as well, to the party on October 26th 2008, when they brought a birthday cake and a present to celebrate Yan's birthday. Lam Yan was glad to see Mr Wat and Ms Ng at the tea party.

It was such a warm and touching atmosphere at the party, said Mr Wat.

With the consent of Lam Yan, Mr Wat has sent me this photo for posting on to our web site.

In early December, Mr Wat and Ms Ng had dinner with Jenny Sy (施珍妮) classmate Jenny Chang Wai Kuen (張惠娟), and was glad to learn that Jenny Sy is going to get married to Kenneth Choi on January 10, 2009. Actually she asked Mr. Wat and Miss Ng out to dinner to give them her invitation cards to the wedding.

Both Jenny's graduated Form 5 in CCSC in 1992-93, and both of them were taught by Ms Ng and Mr Wat.

Jenny Chang just had a baby girl, now 1 month old. Mr Wat said that Jenny Chang remembers that I taught her Biology in Form 3. "Can you remember her face?" asked Mr Wat in his email. Believe me, I do remember her.

Congratulations to Jenny Chang for the new baby, and my congratulations and best wishes also to Jenny Sy for her wedding.

Mr Wat also said, "During our chats, the two girls said that they had not visited your overseas web-site before. I promoted it by saying that they could put some photos there. Perhaps they will contact you later. Let me tell you this beforehand." Will look forward to their getting on line on our site....

(3) The Class of F2D (1993-94) who had Mr Wat as their form-teacher, reunited again on August 31st, 2008, after separating for 14 long years. They had buffet lunch at a restaurant called 798 Unit & Co. at Times Square in Causeway Bay. Sixteen classmates turned up. Thanks to Catherine Kwong (鄺思瑩) who organized the gathering and did the reservations.

Maybe everybody had been longing for a reunion already for some time. It was sparkled off when Patrick Lee (李沛宗) first posted up a class photo in Facebook that gave the right catalyst to start off the wanted reaction.

There was a lot of chatting and updating and clicking of the cameras.... and of course lot of food of different kinds.

Kenny Yu (余啟益) deserves special compliments for his loyalty to the old classmates, as he travelled a long way from Singapore to attend the gathering!!!

The wedding ceremony of Lie Kin Fung William (李堅峰) was in the afternoon on November 1st, 2008 and took place at the Chapel at CUHK. Mr. Wat and Mrs. D. Chan (retired Biology teacher) attended the ceremony. While climbing the slopes to the Chapel, they were so lucky to meet the bridegroom near the entrance of the Chapel, so we took the first picture below:

The wedding reception banquet was held at Lee Yuen Restaurant (利苑酒樓) at New Town Plaza.

FRONT L-R: Rebecca (Vincent Lau's wife), Vincent Lau, Mrs. D. Chan, Ms. M. Ng, Mr. Wat

This last photo is interesting -- all 6 CCSC girls were dressed in black. What a coincidence!?
